<p>For the 2011(last year) EA applicant pool ,there were 6900 applications with 2700 accepts. For RD there were an additional 8500 applications plus the 4200 deferred for the 4700 accepts. I can’t find data on the yield rates(enrolled) for EA vs RD.</p>

<p>If VU was binding ED instead of nonbinding EA , many of these applicants would not be in this pool.
I feel that for many of these applicants , Villanova is a low match / safety school and many EA accepts do not enroll, if they eventually get into BC , Gtown or ND etc.</p>
<p>The downside is that for the deferred that have Villanova as a first choice become discouraged and may consider other schools instead of being psyched even though they may be accepted in March.</p>
