Hello,
Wondering about the acceptance rate for EA vs RD? Typically, they are similiar but ive read that Villanova defers most ea applicants? Is this true?
Thank you!
DD loves this school hoping for scholarship
Hi -do students applying Ed 1 submit first quarter grades?
We did not two years ago.
Could someone explain to me what is happening with the Villanova Cabrini Campus, particularly for nursing students? It looks to be about 2 miles from the main campus. Will the entire nursing program be moving over there? We visited last spring, and it was not mentioned at all…
Interesting! Thanks for mentioning. You’ve probably seen this, but this site mentions “dedicated nursing simulation space” and lists Fitzpatrick College of Nursing Graduate Programs as one those to make this campus their new home. So maybe nursing undergrads stay on the main campus?
That’s what I am hoping to confirm. We toured the (main campus ) nursing building when we visited and it looked relatively new and well appointed. I can’t imagine it will go unused! I did see that dorms opening on the Cabrini campus are for sophomores and maybe juniors. It also looks like the new campus will be accompanied by an increase in enrollment…
Current parent but not nursing. My understanding is there will be graduate nursing programs on Cabrini, along with some other departments. Most sophomores (current freshmen) will live on Cabrini and the university will invest in more shuttles. I cannot imagine any juniors choosing to live there. And while I hear the current freshmen are mostly not thrilled about it, I think it will be ok since most will be in one place. They gave a whole presentation on Cabrini plans at parents weekend…but I didn’t go
They also recently acquired Rosemont college and I’m not sure what the plans are for that, but the location is better than Cabrini. It’s a little closer (1 mile) and a lot more walkable to the area students like to hang out. I don’t think that is opening until 2028.
Hi! My DD applied ED1 for civil engineering. She absolutely loves Villanova! I just saw in 2 other discussion threads that there was a town hall the other day at Villanova where the students were told that the amount of applicants for this year’s ED1 and EA was extremely high. I assumed this would be a higher than normal year for applications due to the Pope but I didn’t think it would be in the ED1/EA round as much. Anyone else hear about this? And any thoughts about it?
I heard the same from my kid who is a sophomore. I would say I definitely expected an increase in EA…almost everyone applies EA anyway so that’s where I would expect to see the increase. But having said that I think last year they had something like 1500 ED1 and 16000 EA…and I heard this year the total for ED1 and EA is almost 24K…which would be something like a 40 percent increase!
ED1 decision day is tomorrow, Nov 21 @ 4:30pm ET as per Instagram post. Good luck, everyone!
Does Villanova give out Merit Scholarships at the time of acceptance? And if not how long after acceptance do they usually come out?
If you are invited to apply for the Presidential scholarship, the invitation will be in your acceptance letter for ED II, EA and RD…but not for ED1. For ED1 who are invited to apply, they will get the invitation later. Villanova has limited other scholarships and I’m not sure on those.
I read somewhere that Villanova doesn’t accept many people via EA but tends to just defer people to RD?
Anyone know if this is true?
Regardless, it seems like EA decisions usually come out in January.
anyone know acceptance stats for CLAS ED2? i hv a 89 uw gpa 95 weighted upwards trend in senior year grades. pol sci major 1410 sat. good ec’s, essays, rec’s. planning to write supp including their augustinian values.
The only time I have seen Villanova publish EA admission data was in the 2023-2024 Common data set. That year they had 14,667 EA applications and admitted 2266, which is 15.4% acceptance rate. I am sure some were deferred and later admitted, but not sure how many.
With a little math you can do some figuring:
Total applications in for fall 2023 = 23,127
Total ED applications = 1,657
Total EA applications = 14,667
That means the number of RD applications was:
23,127 - (1657+14,667) = 6803
Acceptances:
ED = 820/1657 = 49.5%
EA = 2266/14667 = 15.4%
Total acceptances = 5810
RD acceptances = 5810 - (820+2266) = 2724
Overall acceptance rate = 5810/23127 = 25.1%
acceptance rate combining ED and EA =
(820+2266)/(1657+14667) = 18.9%
I’m not sure you can figure out RD acceptance rate exactly without knowing how many were deferred.
I’m not sure you can figure out RD acceptance rate unless you know how many were deferred from EA, which I don’t know. But maybe someone can tell me if this is right:
So…we know 53 percent of the total acceptances (3086/5810) came in ED+EA , and 47 percent of the acceptances (2724/5810) came in RD.
The total acceptance rate was 25.1%
The combined EA/ED acceptance rate was 18.9% for 53% of the class
So if 47% of the class was accepted at a rate that made the overall acceptance rate 25.1% then I think back it all out and say the RD acceptance rate was 32%?
Someone check my math.
And if that is right then there were 1709 deferred from EA. 1709/14667 = 11.6% of EA applicants were deferred.
I
I love this post! This is definitely the kind of thing I would have done when my oldest was applying…
