How many recommandation letters?

Hi, I’m planning to apply for ed… working on organizing awards & essay right now. I was wondering how many recommandation letters I have to prepare… Also, where do you guys search for professors? (the short answer question…) I would really appreciate it if my questions are answered :D

Oh, and I kept reading over and over but still cannot understand how SAS, SEAS, Wharton, Nursing, Huntsman, etc are… I want to go to UPenn because I want to study international business… so which one do i apply to???

1) 2 from any teachers, 1 from your guidance counselor.
2) Look professors up in their departments under the courses of majors, etc.
3) If you want to major in business, than it’s Wharton for you.

thanks so much! do i ask the teachers to send the recommandation letters to the school through mail? or can i just send the through email?

They usually ask you to give them a stamped, addressed letter and they send it off themselves.

huntsman is international business dual degree

thanks zester & elvis ^^

zester >>
i was thinking about asking my teacher in Japan for a recommandation letter… do you think i should send him a stamped & addressed envelope through mail?

elvis >>
so i should apply for huntsman if i want to go into international business?

btw, i was in Japan for a year as an exchange student…

Lol, if you want!

And no, Huntsman is a specific dual degree program, encompassing international relations, and business.

It’s very competitive, and you need to do extra work if you want it.
You need to be proficient in another language, have taken the SAT II Match II, etc.

oh, so when i do the application, i apply for wharton school?
i’m trilingual, i still havent taken the satII yet (will be in Nov), do you think i would have some chance if i work hard on my gpa and ec?

(btw do they look at your first semester grades for this year if you’re applying for ed?

sorry i have too many questions to ask lol

they do look at first semester grade even if it’s out after the ED deadline.

also, keep in mind that if you plan to apply for ED, you only have Oct and Nov to take the SATs, which means in your case, there won’t be any chance for retakes =S

If you want to do the Huntsman program, you would apply to the program (there’s a couple additional essays if I remember correctly) but then you would indicate which school you want to be considered for if you don’t get in to the program. That is to say, you could be rejected from Huntsman, but still be accepted to CAS or Wharton (depending on which you choose)

blue_sky >> yeah i wont have chances for retakes :s that’s my biggest worry right now because i don’t think i’ll do well on it… but i’ll still apply!

CDN_dancer >> ohhh this helps me a lot thank you!!

I read somewhere up in this thread that it’s a dual-degree with international relations, but it’s actually international studies. Int’l relations is more focused on the relationships, obviously, among nations and states and such, while int’l studies has a wider scope of study. For example, you’d study the culture of a certain society as an int’l studies major instead of just focusing on how they relate to the bigger world.

And it is actually only one additional required essay.

And good luck with your language SAT’s. Remember you are probably going to want to rush your scores in once you get them to ensure that they aren’t late.
