All my schools only require 1 teacher recommendation.
So far I have an AP governments teacher who has taught me for… 2 months (for now).
And also a extra curricular related recommendation (not teacher) that has known me for… 1 month.
Should I add another teacher who has known me for longer periods? Will 3 be an overkill for a 1 teacher rec school?
I believe 3 would be an overkill, yes, unless it is a non-teacher rec (a youth group leader or an outside professor you worked with). You would just be adding more work for the AO’s that read your app.
There is no teacher from last year who could write the one you need? Many schools ding applicants for stuffing their files with too many recommendations. The best single source to speak to your abilities is a teacher who has seen you thrive and progress over a semester or two.
