How many scholarships can I apply for? I’m a senior and have a family that has a very low income. I can’t attend college without a full ride and I would like to know the oppurtunities I have. I somewhat know about FAFSA and CSS, but are there any more? I’ve heard a bit about pell grant but don’t know what it is. Could you guys enlighten me on this topic, it’s very important.

You can apply for as many scholarships as you want to…BUT…

The very best scholarships come directly from the colleges you are accepted to. Merit awards are based on your SAT or ACR scores, and GPA in most cases. Need based aid is based on your family income…but the vast majority of colleges do NOT meet full need.

The FAFSA and Profile are financial aid applications you submit to the colleges. They are used to determine need based aid awards.

The Pell Grant is a federally funded grant for low income students. If your EFC per FAFSA is $0, the full Pell would be $5730. You would also be able to take a $5500 Direct Loan.

There is a thread pinned above for scholarships, and for low cost colleges. You should look at both.

What state are you from? Some states have need based financial aid for low income students?

ETA…you got a lot of this question answered on your previous thread. You might want to reread those responses.

I’m from New Jersey

There are also merit scholarships with a need component at many schools. Basically, it is a merit scholarship but only to students that demonstrate financial needs. For the need based aids, you can get some idea using the NPC from each school. For merit aid information, you need to look up the data for each school. Check you are really competitive based on your score and GPA and see how many that school usually offer. You may use the following list FYI.
