How many schools should you apply to?

<p>My son applied to seven schools…
Delaware
Rutgers
Uconn
University of New Hampshire
Binghamton
Vermont
The Ohio state
He has a combined 1630 sat. Not a great test taker. But a weighted gpa of 3.81 with at least 2 honors classes each year and 3ap classes. Also took three college credits already in his junior year. Marching band and section leader for two years and student gov and a teachers asst.
With all this info should he apply to more schools and the ones that he applied to do they match. Since low sat not sure if he limited himself.</p>

<p>What is his unweighted GPA (it is almost always viewed as more important)?</p>

<p>Max 10(even though I’m applying to more). if your son has a good unweighted then he should have a decent shot at all the schools you mentioned.</p>

<p>The only school for which unweighted is meaningless is Virginia Tech…</p>

<p>UDel: Match
Rutgers SAS/SEBS/MG: Safety (these three units admit lots of students with those stats)
Rutgers business/engineering: High match
Rutgers 0-6 PharmD: Reach (it’s like getting into Vanderbilt or Johns Hopkins)
UConn: Low match
UNH: Safety
OSU: Match
UVT: Low match
Binghamton: Reach</p>

<p>If he does apply to more schools which one would you guys suggest? He is interested in environmental sciences and economic policys. He did apply to sebs at Rutgers which offers this.</p>

<p>He really should not apply to more, his current list is solid. The only time when it is necessary to apply to 12+ schools is when you have a lot of reaches on your list. If I would you I would double check what his unweighted is, it seems rather high (based on how you talked about his schedule I would imagine he has at least 0.2 added to his GPA, if not more).</p>

<p>You are right ArtsyGirl13 … Now we are just waiting and its brutal since some of his friends have been getting accepted already to various schools.</p>
