<p>oh got it! the school that I go to has a different idea for semester school. we have summer, fall, winter and spring.</p>

<p>Many schools are on a tri-semester system. Sure some schools call them quarters, but others call them “terms” or “semesters” still.</p>
<p>4 terms / year = quarter
3 terms / year = quarter or semester (depends on school)
2 terms / year = semester</p>
<p>but even there the schools are not very consistent. Some semester schools also have a short winter term. Most semester schools have a summer session as well. hardly fits with the nomenclature. </p>
<p>Here, there are two long terms each year, Fall and Spring, as well as five partially overlapping terms in the summer (A, B, C, D and E), just to further confuse everything.</p>
<p>Since semester is derived from latin for six months, it suggest twice per year.</p>

<p>ok im so sorry that i asked a stupid question. at my school, we call them springsemester, fall sem, winter sem, and summer sem. that was the REASON why i posted this thread. anyways, again, i am sorry to embarrass u guys! lol</p>
