<p>I was just curious to know how many of the students at Syracuse have a job while also going to school.</p>
<p>Quite a few students work on-campus while taking classes. I didn’t hold down a job my freshman year, and I actually had a part-time job on-campus my sophomore year. My friends were pretty much the same way. </p>
<p>Honestly, I think it depends on not only what your financial situation is like, but also how quickly you can get used to being in college.</p>
<p>My S has a 6 hour/week job in 2 3 hour shifts. Started 2nd semester Freshman year. He’s met another group of friends through the job, and has pocket money. Some studies show a small commitment (<8 hours/wk) job actually help with grades, although that may seem counter-intuitive. Google to find out more on that.</p>
