How many takin AP ENG LIT/ LAN / AP LANGUAGE/ CALC BC?

My School offers AP English Lit. But I’m not taking it.
IB English all the way baby!
JK, Not bashing AP, but specifically at my school, the heirarchy for English is IB, AP, then regular college prep in terms of rigor.

My school doesn’t offer any APs, but I took AP Spanish Lang last year and I’ll be taking Calc BC, Stat, and Bio this year (but I swear I’m a humanities person now…I think)

My school does not offer AP Eng. Lan because the English department refuses to teach to that specific test, but since the department is so great, about 90% of the Juniors take it and most get 4’s or 5’s. I got a 5.

This year I’m taking AP Eng. Lit and AP Calc BC. Since I’m studying Japanese, however, I can’t take the foreign language APs. A Japanese AP test doesn’t even exist…

Aren’t they making one though? They’re making a Chinese one.

Not that I’ve heard of. Yes, the Chinese one is being started this year, but I would have heard if a Japanese one was being formed. But it doesn’t matter much to me since I’m taking another type of internationally administered Japanese exam in December.

what type of exam?

Hmm. I’m not sure. It’s not an IB test, if that’s what you’re getting at. My Japanese teacher signed me up for the exam. I think it’s called “The Japanese Language Placement Test” and is run by the Japanese Foundation. They administer the exam at a few select cities in the U.S. and another handful abroad.

I still can’t believe they don’t offer an AP Japanese test… they offer Japanese at my school, too, so by senior year I’m sure there would be a handful of qualified students.

Good luck on the test!

Thanks! :)

I am taking a bunch of IB Tests this year (Chem HL Physics HL English HL History HL Japanese SL) already taken Math. What sucks is that all these tests require internal assessments of some kind coupled with an Extended Essay (mine is in History) and a Theory of Knowledge Essay (which I did about science in general), and 150 hours for the CAS thing.

I’d take AP tests but they cost money just like the IB tests and I don’t think I could afford both. IB has enough as it is :/

i asked that question cuz it seems that whoever takes ap eng lit/lan, language lit / lan or calc bc basically fullfills the req for most rig course load. lol…

This year, I’m taking:

English Lit
Physics C - Mechanics
Physics C - E&M
Calc BC
Chemistry
Psychology

Plus last year I took US History, Calc AB, Statistics, and Biology.

Well, this year I’m taking AP English, AP Calc BC, AP French lang. AP Bio, AP phys. C and AP Gov & Pol. I previously took Chem AP, Us history and Phys B
I think I am getting very well prepared for all classes, except for french…I am doing well in the class, but it is my teacher’s 1st year of AP teaching, so he does not know much about the test. Does anyone know any website that has stuff about French AP? (i dont think there is a prep book for it…)

i think we should have a tally of how many ap exams are ppl taking this year and they took last year… not a competition… but just to see who is the craziest. haha. cuz each school has different offers. is anyone taking more than 6 ap courses or 10 ap exams this year?

My school doesn’t offer a course in Eng.Lang or Lit, but most juniors/seniors take the tests and do well. I took French Lang and am taking AB Calc. I’ve also taken Euro History, and US History and am taking AP Chem.

I took Human Geography my 10th grade year and got a 5. This year I’m taking Government, US History, English Language, BC Calculus, and Chemistry as classes. I’m going to take the Environmental Science and both Physics C tests in addition to the other 5. This is going to be a rough year…

ap eng lit, ap eng lang, ap span, ap stat, ap govt

Holy crap, you guys’ schools are SO good. AP (insert foreign language here)? What’s that? Man, I wish i had classes like you guys. I am in Calc BC at a different high school cause my school don’t offer it, AP Gov’t, AP Lit, French 4, Lifetime Personal Fitness (mandatory), Psychology (regular). I would take more AP’s but I cant because of conflicting schedules. wow… all thsoe AP classes. Im in alaska btw, so i guess thats a good excuse.

Oh btw, does your school have madnatory classes? Liftime personal fitness (see above) is the most whack class. Have you noticed gym teachers can’t do what they tell you to do? Man. I hate that class. Im gonna do a documentary on it and send it to the municipality just to show its total uselessness.

Yeah, we have a few mandatory classes. The specific ones (outside of English, etc) are Personal Health, US History, US Government, and Economics. I think all but personal health are pretty standard fare as far as high school curricula go, though.

I’m taking 4 APs this year, including both English and Spanish Lit., but I don’t know yet if I’ll take the actual exams (if the school I go to doesn’t accept AP credit, why waste the money?) Anyway, prior to this year I have 6 APs, including English and Spanish Lang. and Calc BC. (Yay, go calculus!) I wish my school offered Music Theory AP…
