My friend told me that schools usually request for it again in February, but it doesn’t apply to Early Decision.
Is this school-specific or does it generally apply to most schools?
I’ve called a few schools and they did not require a second submission of CSS but I wasn’t sure if I should call the rest of them, just to make sure.
Has anyone ever heard of schools asking for CSS twice?

I’m not sure if I understand your question, but I’ll give it a shot. Schools don’t ask for the Profile to be submitted twice, and the Profile does not permit one to make corrections/changes and send again. But if they have an early deadline (for instance in Dec. for an ED applicant), the family usually has to also submit a corrected version to the school when their taxes are finalized. Even for RD, many schools have a Feb deadline, and this is before many institutions are required to supply documents required for taxes, so even then, parts of the Profile may need to be corrected.

I see. It seems that in the case of RD, I may have to update or correct parts of Profile but it does not equate sending in an entirely new application.

I was wondering because I am worried about the cost of sending an application. I have already sent my application to 8 schools and I am about to add 2 more to the list, so I hope I do not have to pay twice.

I think you have answered my question. Thank you very much!

You need to call EACH college and ask them how to update your Profile. You CANNOT do this online. In our experience, the schools did one of two things…they either asked for corrections to be hand written in on a copy of the Profile (so I hope you printed out one for yourself) and sent to the school OR the school used IDOC and didn’t want the Profile updated, but rather wanted all of the 2010 tax documents, etc to be mailed to IDOC.

Call your schools.

Re: ED…some schools have a priority deadline for ED applicants for the Profile that is VERY early…by November 15…so they can give you an estimated financial aid award with your ED acceptance should you be admitted.

For ALL financial aid…check EACH school’s website for what THEY require and the deadlines for submission to each school. These vary wildly. Do not miss the school deadlines.

Thank you very much! I will call my schools.

And thank you for the warning but I’m not applying Early Decision. Thankfully, all my documents were sent in on time.
