I want to switch out of Software Dev to Nursing, or something else (not sure yet.) Scared to because of what family will think they’ll say "You need to make money, or tell me to “grow up” And stick to Software Dev because that makes the most money or they’ll say how they’re not going to be alive forever and I need a “stable” job.
If you changed majors how did your family react? Was it a good choice. I get that I’m an adult and I make my own choices but at the same time I want my family to approve.
My husband dropped out of college as a senior in education! His parents weren’t impressed. He ended up going back to school 8 years later and became a structural engineer. So I would say it’s better to change majors than to drop out so late. It’s important to be in a field you can stand!
I changed my interests many times. In high school I was convinced I wanted to do political science or economics. Then as a freshman in community college I started thinking maybe I should do comp sci because I like working with computers and I’d make hella money, then I dropped out of community college and decided I wanted to do some sort of Music production/ mastering degree at a specialized music school. I never got around to it, but then my mom convinced me to take a business class with her and when I came back to school, I decided I wanted to pursue a degree in Finance. But I’m still toying with the idea of getting a polisci or economics minor.
