How many times should I take the PSAT/SAT's

???
And in your experience what are good SAT prep books?

Why don’t people search on this forum?

^Cause the search on this site sucks! If you use CC search it cuts out alot of words it finds “to common”. And if you use Google the search is to wide. It comes back with everything on this site

[searchsite:college - Google Search](<a href=“searchsite:college - Google Search”>searchsite:college - Google Search)

I’m assuming you are talking about practice PSAT? (You can only take the PSAT once per year). My advice is to take it as many time as you can. The mroe practice you do, the better off you will be. However, it’s also crucial that you go over what you got wrong on these tests and figure them out before moving on. Otherwise, you are just testing without learning everything.

For practice SAT^

For the real SAT, most colleges will think a bit strangely of you if you take it like 5 times. It’s best to keep it down to 3 if possible. Spread these tests apart so you have time to study and improve.

@314jason …whatever…

For the psat question, it depends on what grade you are currently in. If you’re a rising junior, you only have one opportunity to take it, but if you’re going into the tenth grade (or 9th), I would suggest you take it 2 or even 3 times. I agree with sa0209 on the SAT question, but don’t be scared to take it 3 times because it may benefit your superscore.

As for the prep book questions, some of the most commonly suggested ones on this site are Direct hits for vocab/CR, Official sat study guide (commonly called blue book) for practice tests and grubers for math. I would also suggest you visit http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/763933-new-feature-best-sat-prep-forum-faqs-please-read-before-posting.html</a> because it has very good posts on Essay writing and Critical reading methods.
