how many units do i have?

hey guys! i’m kind of confused with how many units I have entering as a first year. I understand that you can’t get of classes or anything like that, but that the units do count towards the 180 you need to graduate. i took a few AP classes in high school:

world history (scored a 3)- ucla website says this gives me 8 units
us history (scored a 4)- 8 units
english language (4)- 8 units
english lit (4)- 8 units
us gov (4)- 4 units

My question is, does that give me 36 units? or do i only get 8 units for both history classes instead of 16 (because they’re from the same subject field) and 8 for english classes?

sorry that this a really basic question. I just really don’t know and I’m trying to think about what classes I’d like to take. any help would be really appreciated. thanks for the time guys

You can get 8 for World History and 8 for USH, but only 8 max for both English Language and Literature.
