@sansculottes, I listed the actual numbers in response #17.
In 2014, Cambridge offered 53 Americans and 32 ended up attending.
We don’t know how many Oxford offered, but probably about the same number as 38 ended up attending.
Which means that the number who got interviewed from Oxbridge combined has to be greater than 90.
About half of the students admitted to Oxbridge from the US are US citizens, so I estimate 30 admitted, and 150 interviews: some who get interviews don’t get offers, and some who get offers attend other schools.
British schools look at AP exams and SAT IIs from US and often other international students. Top US schools are not as interested in achievement tests. For them, SAT IIs are more important than AP exams, and grades from teachers, adjusted for the school and difficult of class, and SAT Is are important. Plus lots of other factors are considered.
@sattut, there’s no need to estimate. Both Cambridge and Oxford list the number of American citizens who apply and accept offers to go there. Cambridge also gives the number who got offers.
Sorry, the Cambridge numbers are for those domiciled in the US. The Oxford numbers are for American citizens (over 1000 domiciled in the US applied but both 38 domiciled in the US and 38 American citizens accepted the offer).
