how many vocabulary words

this is directed towards those who scored a 2300+, know a lot about the subject, or at least tried very hard to do so

how many vocabulary words should a person (with an already pretty extensive vocabulary) be studying to aim for a 2400.

also, is buying a book for 20 dollars really necessary to study vocabulary? Or is simply going online and finding words there good enough.

any other advice or tips on studying is much appreciated.

thanks guys!

Use Direct Hits. There is a free, online version of it to download. Just google it. It may take a while to find.

STUDY ALL OF THE WORDS!

But seriously, you can find good word lists online. I studied about half of the Barron’s 3500 list (which is sitting in some corner of the Internet I’m sure). I already knew about 2/3 of the words anyway, so it ended up being about 600 words; I got an 800 CR with no errors.

As long as you study a decent list, it won’t be any different from a book. Words are words.
