I was wondering how many years of science you need for Syracuse in high school. The collegeboard web site says you only need 3 years, but the syracuse website says you need 4 years, anyone know? Also, which would you say is tougher to get into, Syracuse or UConn?

If you are not majoring in engineering or applied science, you only need three years of science.

Depends… UConn instate is easier to get into, but comparing syracuse and UConn out of state…UConn has the edge in toughness

i plan on majoring in business. Is Syracuse better than UConn for business? Also, is it better in business than other schools in the east like Rutgers, St. John’s, Villanova, Pitt, Penn St, Maryland, West Virginia, and Ohio St.

I don’t know the exact reputation for SU business, but I do know that they have a good reputation for their business school.

HOWEVER,you really need to investigate these school. For example, University of Maryland has a very highly rated business school. However, UMD has its share of problems from crime, to being a HUGE beauracracy, needing a strong GPA to get admitted into the business school EVEN AFTER YOU GET ADMITTED TO UMD, to “large” impersonal classes etc.

Again, visit the schools. Ask about class sizes. Ask about placement. Ask about the number of employers who recruit on campus. See if all rooms are wired for computers. Ask the kids what they think of the programs and the professors. Ask students whether their professors are very accessible for questions or whether the professors run out of class faster than the kids. Also, check out the culture of the school. Check out the dorms and student unions.

You really, really need to inivestigate the schools. Don’t just go by ratings, or you will regret it!

Villanova is solid for business
