How much advantage does being an athlete give an applicant?

In my native Sweden I am a member of the U19 National team in soccer. I have good contact with the soccer coach at Stanford and he says that he is willing to support my application. Is this a big advantage?

That is a huge advantage, if a coach at stanford wants you there…

you better be pretty damn good, my friend is on the U18 national team here in America and while he’s getting recruited for some good D1 schools, nothing like Stanford. Your grades must be up to par, so must your standardized tests.

Actually, I am not sure about how the American grade system works but when an admission office from another top school translated my transcripts they said my grades were somewhere between A- to A.

although my grades are okey, I am a lousy test taker

If the coach is supporting your application, that’s a very good thing (:

yea it defz is
god joby!!

Coaches support can put you over the top. It will definitely raise the standard of the soccer team to have a semi pro.
