Hi I have good SAT (2250), GPA (3.86), and ok SAT 2’s (bio 720 and math 2c 740). I have only taken 3 AP tests, however,: Bio (2), APES (4) AP Stats (4) and have taken 6 AP classes so far and will take 3 more senior year. I don’t take the AP’s because of the high cost and because college credit isn’t offered for most of the colleges I am hoping to apply to this fall. Many extracurricullars (music, spanish, leadership), but cannot do sports. My school doesn’t offer that many AP’s and for Bio I only took the honors class and took the ap exam, but got a 720 on the SAT 2. Am I alright for at least some IV Legues or 7 year meds? Should I retake the SAT 2’s? Also any tips on studying for these standardized tests because I usually know all the information, but fail to show it. Also I am from California if that changes anything. Thank you!

Ivies don’t care about AP exam scores; in fact, most of them don’t even allow you to use them to opt out of courses or get placed in higher courses. They DO care about your grades in AP classes.

I would advise you to not retake the SAT II’s and instead retake the SAT. Shoot for 2300+ just to be safe :)

"With so many incredible students submitting applications that are chockablock with great grades, challenging classes, top SAT and ACT scores, and extraordinary extracurricular pursuits, admission officials at elite colleges are increasingly looking to AP exam scores to serve as tie-breakers.
I would not say AP scores have no impact at all, but it has a very low priority. In most cases, AP scores are self reported only. Some schools would look at the AP scores just like additional subject test scores (after the 2 or 3 minimal requirement). For academic achievements, SAT1+2SAT2 or ACT, GPA and course load are the primary indicators. AP classes are good indication of course load while the scores are mainly for credit purpose.

I really wouldnt retake the SAT’s. After 2250 the score really doesnt matter. They get the idea that you’re an excellent test taker and know the material. As for the AP scores, dont worry about them, your app is all set!

Your SAT1 is good. How is the breakdown? Also, your SAT2 scores are great for top 50 schools, but they are a bit low for top schools like MIT and Ivies.
