How much can I bring up my PSAT score?

I got a 1790 (179) on the PSAT and my goal for the SAT is a 2000. I know the crude baseline for improvement is 100 points and I want to double that but with a Princeton review course for 3 months and studying is that a realistic goal? If not, what would be one?

If you study and dedicate enough time to it, then you should be fine. It’s all about strategy and practice. If you’re taking practice tests make sure you do them as you would the actual SAT. Don’t stop and take breaks when they’re not allowed. Also don’t spend too much time on questions you don’t understand or are unsure of. Lightly mark them and go back if time allows.

The class that I’m taking does 4 scored practice tests under testing conditions so the practice should be good. My only concern with that though is I scored a 1580 on my first practice test with them…so I don’t know what happened there. Hopefully it’ll go up in the next one, and I’ve heard their practice tests are harder than the actual thing. Definitely going to put in extra hours after that.

When do you plan on taking the SAT for the first time?

@NJProParent‌ I’ll be taking it in March

Three months is fine, but definitely dedicate your time to the Princeton course, and do more by taking advantage of their on-line practice exams. Also, take the free on-line Kaplan courses that are offered. It is likely that your SAT score will be an improvement over your base PSAT score.
