I was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2006 and was advised to take a break in my education due to my illness.

I’m planning to take the AP exams in May 2010 in Calculus BC, Physics C, Chemistry and Computer Science A.

I’m planning to apply to college in the US for Fall 2011.

If I’m to get all 5’s in my APs, how much would they strengthen my application (as opposed to applying without AP scores)? I’m also planning to apply to the top universities in the UK, Canada, Australia and Singapore.

PS: Sorry if this thread is in the wrong place.

They do strengthen your application significantly, but not as much as, say, the SAT or GPA. I’d say there more important than most interviews are.

Agreed. From what I’ve been reading, they are a strong consideration after GPA and standardized tests. If you score very well on the AP exams (4s or 5s), you may place out of certain required courses and/or receive credit. Equally important is the fact that the AP courses themselves show the rigor of your academic program to date. Good luck as you move forward with your education!

They’ll show up on your high school transcript. If you took an AP somewhere other than your own high school, make sure to submit a transcript from that school as well as your own.

Oops, read your question too quickly. The grade you get in the AP class will indeed be on your transcript.

The score on the AP test itself will be reported to whatever college(s) you indicated when you sat for the test. Additionally, you can request that they be sent to any college later. I believe you can do this on the AP website, and can do it for up to 4 years after taking the test.

Actually schizophrenia does not entail multiple personalities. That’s multipersonality disorder, and is often confused with schizophrenia. GO AP PSYCH WOO. You just have hallucinations and other stuff like that.
