<p>I took two years of Spanish in middle school, which counts for high school credits, and Algebra 1 and Geometry, which also count for high school credits. I got A- in all of those classes and they bring down my UW gpa, not to mention my weighted gpa (because they aren’t waited) a little bit. My gpa from classes that I took in high school are way higher. Would colleges look at these middle school classes? More specifically, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Ivy league schools. Thanks.</p>
<p>I’m not sure how your high school works, but for my school, those classes don’t even show up on the transcript. I think it’s only the 9-12 classes that go to colleges, and they won’t note any classes that there isn’t a transcript for.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, I heard they go on the transcript as freshman classes.</p>

<p>Also, colleges may look at grades differently (they may or may not count +/- on the grades, or may count only certain grades, etc.). An upward trend is generally a good thing, so if you went from A- to A grades, that should look good. Check to see if the colleges have specific policies with respect to grades on their web sites (it is more likely that public colleges have specific policies, while very selective private colleges look at transcripts holistically along with everything else).</p>
<p>If you want to work as an engineer after college, you may want to consider other schools besides Ivy League schools (which are where you want to go to work in investment banking). Minnesota, NC State, and Cal Poly SLO are worth a look, as they are not as expensive as most out-of-state public schools (public schools are very prominent in the list of “top” engineering schools). MIT, CMU, and USC (Trojans) are among the better known private schools for engineering, though there are other smaller schools as well like Caltech, Harvey Mudd, Cooper Union, etc…</p>
