If someone in a very high position at Cornell sends a recommendation in for you? Does this increase your chances?

im sure if the recommendation was at least decent then yes im sure it could give you a SMALL boost. i had someone who’s brother had a very high position in cornell write me a letter as well.

Depends on how high that person’s standing is, your relationship with cornell, but usually it mostly depends your own ability. There are a number of cases in which really unqualified people get in with “connections” but usually these are just rumors, it’s usually better to rely on your own abilities than your connections unless you are say, the child of the president of the US.
