how much do I need to raise my SAT?

I am re-taking the SAT in January and I was wondering how much I would need to raise it to give myself a “match”, if possible, for USC, heres my other info…

SAT Currently: Math-660, CR-660, Writing-660 (essay 11)
GPA: UW 3.4 Weighted 3.73 or 3.96 depending if you include Sophomore year Honors Points
(I go to a competitive Catholic high school as well)

Extra Curriculars:
-4 years varsity Cross-Country Senior Captain (we advanced to the state championships 3 times)
-4 years varsity track (we have won our league 3 times)
-4 years elected to student council
-1 year Campus Ministry Team (group of seniors selected to organize food, toy and money drives)
-4 years childrens soccer coach (200 hours)
-4 years working in non-profit golf shop that gives free clubs to kids (300 hours)
-Created “Homeless Christmas Project” - collect money throughout the year and buy Christmas gifts for homeless people, deliver to them on Xmas eve
-Founder of Redwood Running Club - summer running club
-Avid Golfer and Skimboarder in my free time
-Worked throughout high school in the winter as a basketball score-keeper
-Worked in summer after Junior year as Front Desk worker at an athletic club

-Legacy: Mom attended, Uncle attended and is in the second highest level of donation club, as well as six other family member (I wrote about this "family tradition in the additional information short answer)

-Recommendations: From AP US History and AP Calc. teachers focused on my perseverance

-Essay: My AP english teacher wanted a copy to use as a college essay example for her classes next year. It was about my mom having multiple heart attacks during my sophomore year and how it changed my outlook on life, also its affect on my grades was explained.

Phew…that was long, thanks for your input

re-taking your SAT’s in Jan… isnt’ that a bit too late?

alot depends on your major. if you business/film, no matter what your sat score is, you wont have a good shot. with ur gpa, you should probably gun for a 2150-2200.

I actually thought so too until I called them, but they said it was ok and made a mark on my app that I was taking them

For it to be a match, 2200 would probably be necessary. Doesn’t mean you can’t get in with something lower, though.

well i guess i’m just gonna have to study my butt off then, haha

You scores are in the middle 50% range for last year’s admitted students. I’d say if you got your verbal to 700 and your math to 720 then you would be definately in. Your EC’s are a bonus for you and it sounds like your rec’s are as well. I say you don’t have much to worry about.

when are the january SAT’s?

the 27th, I barely made it in, signed up on the last day of late sign ups

Eh, certainly not definitely in. No disrespect to pmcharkins intended (heck, my GPA was on the lower end too) but the average unweighted GPA for entering freshman is 3.8. His is 3.4. He needs to get his SAT’s above the average to have a shot.

what were your SAT’s and UW Sfgiants, if you dont mind me asking? just got done with some studying, dont know if ill be able hit 2200 but i think ill definitely boost it

3.45/3.65. 2190 superscore for the SAT. I’m the exception though, I got lucky to get in.

no sfgiants, you got recruited for a sport…hehe
