How much do informational meetings impact admission chances?

I had an informational meeting scheduled for last night, but I ran into a family emergency (my uncle died) and completely forgot. She emailed me last night. I emailed her back, explaining the situation, but she seemed a little angry. Did I ruin my chances?

How could anyone be angry when someone has lost a member of his/her family? Did you get a chance to reschedule?
Possibly she has heard “excuses” before (my dog ate my homework kind of thing), but I don’t know why she would think anyone would make a story up about a death in the family. Hope you get to reschedule it, but don’t worry about it. You didn’t ruin your chances

@annwank She seemed angry in the initial email, but she hasn’t replied to my explanation yet. She said right in there that the only day open in Monday, which when planning, I said I couldn’t because there’s an FFA meeting (I’m president, and it’s an important one, so I have to be there). So I don’t know if I’ll get to reschedule. Does it impact my odds in any way?

My condolences for your loss.

I don’t think it’ll impact your odds. The meeting was solely informational, not like it was an interview for the Hotel school or anything major like that. She may be a little peeved that she set aside time and you guys had to reschedule, but I think it’s pretty obvious no one would lie about a relative passing away.

Agree with the above posts. In tune evaluation she will probably just say “didn’t attend due to family death”, and admissions will just act as of you weren’t offered an interview (which does not hurt you)

***In the evaluation…

@TheDidactic Thank you  I’m just worried because she waited at our meeting place for 45 minutes. It looked like I ditched her, and it wasn’t until the following morning that I realized I had a meeting. I should’ve contacted her, but it was pretty easy to forget about all that when the phone call of my uncle dying (and the ensuing chaos) came. I hope she understands that.
