how much do schools care about your ssat essay?

my d interviewed at Lawrenceville last year (a great school, imho). Her interviewer shared that when they review applicants, they put their entire file up on a screen for review. He said they also put the essay up on the screen for everyone in the room to review, so it seemed pretty important to me, and they like to see SSAT scores of at least 2100. This was the only school where the interviewer asked my d about her SSAT scores and also the only school that was upfront about the SSAT expectations.
