Take these pre-college programs into consideration? I have received countless letters in the mail and e-mails, etc. about attending these programs for various things, and as much as I wanted to go to these things and get some college credits, I just simply did not have the funds to participate in one of these programs, even with scholarships from the program. How much do colleges care about these things?

The most competitive colleges care that you pursue things that interest you. The majority of the people in the country cannot afford most of those programs and many areas of the country are so remote that travel alone would eliminate the young people who live there from attending.

Do what you love. Don’t worry about how something will look to a college.
