<p>It may well depend upon the nature & specificity of the counselor rec. A generic rec will make less of an impact.</p>

<p>Yeah actually I find this to be a legitimate question. I’m applying OOS but my guidance counselor’s kids all went to UNC for undergrad and graduate work. She spent awhile detailing how I’d be a great match for them with a lot of specifics…does that help me significantly?</p>
