My situation is this: My aunt is a Cornell alumni and, as you can imagine, the common application only accounts for family members such as parents, not aunts and cousins. She has helped me academically and has seen me get involved in my community and she believes she can write me a meaningful letter of recommendation for the school. She is also a graduate from the same school I want to apply to. I was just wondering how much does this matter in the application process, do colleges see it as a waste of time? or should I just stay with 3 letters of rec and not submit any more than that?
-Thank you In advance for your response if you choose to answer
Let’s see what Cornell says:

So I’m going to say that a letter from your aunt will not add to your application.
