Hey guys. I’m a low-income (<30K), Quest Bridge finalist (I did not choose to participate in the match program) who lives in an impoverished neighborhood of Houston. I am also 100% Bosnian and am Christian Orthodox. Bosnian was my first language. I am a first generation student, and my parents are immigrants. I go to an elite public school and travel 18 miles one way to get there. Does my “unique” situation help out at all if i’m applying to top tier schools?

can anyone help?

The other factors will help only very slightly because there are far too many low-income students who live in impoverished neighborhoods, who are pure-blooded, god fearing, multilingual, first generation, children of immigrants, who spend hours commuting to their elite high schools. Seriously. I’m not being sarcastic here.

However, that you’re a Questbridge finalist helps significantly.

The name would help. How are your scores and extracirrculars?
