How much does being extremely high need factor into Admissions decision?

My EFC is 0. How big of a factor was this in my being waitlisted? I’m not trying to make excuses or make myself feel better but is it true that having high need hurts you at WashU?

I’ve done research since being waitlisted (I could kick myself for not doing it before applying) and according to everything I’ve read, being in need of a significant amount of aid does hurt you at WashU. I only wish they would be honest about it upfront.

For a second I thought this was some joke thread about pot…

novice in a way, they are. They say they are not a need blind school, so it is a factor. when i visited i brought this up and they were very up front about that with me. best of luck to both of you in all of your college decisions!

Lol. I really laughed at that one.

So did I, especially after I reread the title. lol

i don’t understand how wash u expects to compete with all of its peer institutions who are all need-blind
they are losing some very valuable and diverse students with their policy
