How much does improving my GPA in Junior year second semester help me?

I am in an accelerated version of IB that starts in sophomore year instead of junior year. Up until this semester I have had about a 3.0 cumulative GPA. However, I was very recently diagnosed with ADHD, and ever since I started taking medication my grades have shot up to a 3.6. How much will this affect my perception by admissions officers? How significant is it that I did this in my hardest semester of school? Basically I’m wondering how much this will help my chances of admission at places where a 3.0 would be a long shot.

Thank you

An upwards trend is very good to have. Many colleges will tell you that junior year grades are the most important (and some schools even disregard freshman year grades). It will definitely improve your chances compared to just having a 3.0 cumulative. You might also consider having your guidance counselor or some part of your app mention something about having an undiagnosed learning disability and your improvement now that it’s under control.

@Lagging Thanks, that’s a good idea

It will help and I agree with the advice to have your guidance counselor address it.

Junior GPA is most important, particularly for the second semester if you need to demonstrate an upward trend.
