I just finished my first semester of college with no extracurricular activities. No sports. No clubs. No job.

I want to transfer to a good school as a junior, but obviously with no extracurriculars, my chances aren’t good.

With that said, what if I study aboard in Spain for a semester? Isn’t studying abroad the biggest extracurricular of all? Would that make up for a semester of no extracurriculars?

How much does studying abroad help a transfer application?

Idk much but it’ll definitely make you stand out for sure. Not many people study abroad.
Why not go for a year?

Good luck trying to study abroad before junior year… to my knowledge most people study abroad as juniors and maybe first semester seniors. maybe you could try doing a summer program somewhere instead though.

I think a better bet is to get involved at your current school. If there is no club or team that appeals to you, start one, or maybe find a job or do some sort of volunteer work.

I wouldn’t suggest studying abroad before you transfer, because some colleges are really picky about the transfer credits they accept.
