How much does your current courses affect your application?

I live in Canada and you can say I go to a slacker public school.

It is not competitive AT ALL, and everyone’s just so relaxed and all west coast and all Canadian. ha ha

Therefore, as a ninth grader, you barely have any opportunity to attend an advance class.
There are only two accelerated/advanced/honours classes that are offered at my grade level:

-Math Honours (I am in Honours)

-Intensive French (You cannot attend this class if you didn’t go to a French immersion for elementary school. I didn’t.)

Looking at all these ‘chance me’ threads(I couldn’t resist :frowning: ), I estimate about 70% of you have more than 50% of your classes in AP/honours/accelerated/advanced.

Not to blame anyone, but I think I’m at a disadvantage because of the courses my school offers. So I was wondering, how much do your current courses affect your application as a whole?

Thanks in advance ;)

it affects your chances for sure. they want students who can handle pressure of intense courses.

DANG :(

This is bad…

Don`t listen to CCers the same age as you. Interview and see for yourself. If you really want to go to BS, there are schools for you.

@jerryeps,
I think the admissions officers would rather take a student who is in a slacker high school who obviously is craving a challenge than a jerk who is in “honors” and “accelerated” courses and thinks their the man.
