Even though every case is different… how much need-based aid should I expect to receive from Duke? (and how much of it would be through loans)

Household income: ~$20,000 / year, no major assets
Family: single mom, me, + 1 younger sister
SAT: 2100 - 2200 range
GPA: 3.6 / 4.1

Any range would be helpful to know, based on what Duke usually does. Thanks!

Duke Meets 100% of Financial need, so basically you can calculate your EFC on any online EFC calculator.

If you got in (which would be extremely tough), it would be 100% free for you, no question.

Read this: <a href=“http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/duke-university/429707-new-financial-aid-program.html[/url] ”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/duke-university/429707-new-financial-aid-program.html
;

Anyone below $40k a year is good to go, free of charge. Now, getting in with a 3.6 would be crazy, so get great grades this year!!

thanks sounds awesome, i’ll definitely apply

you have to remember that some of the FA is subsidized and unsubsidized loans. Duke does not have a no loan FA policy.

^ Uhhh vasudevan, yes…yes, they do lol.

Read the article I just posted, silly rolls eyes

^meh, sorry, just a little lazy/pointing out that it was different than Harvard’s policy which is what every college’s financial aid is compared to now a days.

I thought Duke still gives you loans like they used to if you make more than 100K…

yeah the policy is that salary<40K = no loan anything greater than that has loans. I believe the value for no loans is different at different colleges.
