How much higher is Carnegie Mellon's Selectivity than Michigan/NYU?

Title says all. Is CMU/Cornell much more difficult to get into than Michigan/NYU? Or very little difference?

CMU>Cornell>Michigan>NYU I think in terms of selectivity…?

NYU’s acceptance is 32%
CMU is 38%
Cornell is 31%
umich is 53%
so in order of increasing selectivity

Umich<CMU<NYU<Cornell

According to U.S. News…
[% is number accepted / number applied]
CMU - Most Selective. 38.4%
Cornell - Most Selective. 30.9%
NYU - Most Selective. 32.1%
Michigan - Most Selective. 53.2%

Some of the application pools are self-selective.

This is why I think

NYU<CMU=Michigan<Cornell

It does vary by major. Some of CMU’s schools like SCS are as low as 21% and others as high as 55%.

CMU’s selectivity rank in USNEWs is 28, after Vanderbilt and before Tufts
UMich’s selectivity rank is 18.

According to their forumula, CMU is easier to get in.

the problem w/ many of the big universities like cornell and cmu is that they don’t have the admission stats for each individual school. So the only thing we can do is use the stats for the whole school
