How much is prior illness going to hurt me?

I’m 27 and taking 4 courses at my local cc this semester. I dropped out for of HS in 1999 (for health reasons) as a repeat junior (because I had missed so much time due to sickness, I had to repeat the year). I have rare genetic illness that wasn’t diagnosed until 2 years ago. I got a GED in 2000. After my diagnosis I started having mutliple surgeries for defects, I just had my last big one and will need only one or two more. Between the GED and now I attemped 5 courses, but had to withdraw from two of them because of my health. I should be good to go, healthwise, in terms of completing classes now.

I want to transfer into a Film & TV program eventually. I quite concerned the withdrawls as well as the dropping out o HS is going to prevent me from transferring. Could someone weigh in on how this would negatively affect a transfer application?

I’m also wondering if I should take the honors classes. I found out I was eligible after placement testing, however, having been away from school so long, I’m hesitant. I’d hate to take the Honors English and not get an A.

Thanks everyone!
