$200,000 Mostly from two different colleges.

Ur not kidding Waterfall? WOW! Which colleges are those 2?

Assuming waterfall meant over the course of 4 years. $25,000 x 4 years x 2 colleges would be $200,000.

( as a parent of senior I now see how high schools toot their horns over how much scholarship $$ students get each year - now we know they add up every last dollar each student gets from every school who offered.)

But abasket (sir/mdm) $100000 per college is still a damn lot. I can only dream of getting even half of tht much.

Yes, it is a lot of money!!! But for private schools and some more pricey schools $25,000 a year while a great help, still may be only 40-50% of costs.

I wasn’t sure if the original poster was looking for one year figures or 4 year.

Only the last $3,000 are an actual scholarship, but here’s what I have so far:

It isn’t much compared to some of yours, but it’s enough for me to manage. :)

70,000 MSU
70,000 University of Alabama- Tuscaloosa
30,000 from UM
I also had about 15000 just random so it’s really only $185k

I also got into some ivies and got fin aid, but I don’t count that because it has nothing to do with merit.

Oh, there was local girl on the news today and she got 1.6 million in scholarships, but she also applied to about 20 not so good public schools so that may be why. The amount of money you get isn’t usually as important as where it can be used. JMO

I agree waterfall… my county requires us to list all of our scholarship offers, including those that we did not accept. Being that I applied to 9… my total is

$88,000 from American University
$80,000 from GWU
$32,000 from Maryland (College Park, I’m in-state)

Outside non-renewable so far:
$1000 Masonic Charities
$1500 Federal Water Quality
$1500 Izaac Walton (local)

Grand total: $204,000 but I’m using $36,000 because I’ll be attending Maryland.

My son will be attending NYU and got $30000 in scholarship money renewable for 4 years, so that’s $120,000

Holla…you are AMAZING!!! im gonna go total mine up…what a fun thread

Never thought of it in those terms…maybe have to sit down later and figure out all the money offered but the individual universities but outside scholarships, Daughter received:

$1000 southside indoor soccer league
$500 portsmouth schools foundation
$7500 Tidewater Builders Association

RMWC $96,000
E&H $104,000
VCU $64,000

Two schools, don’t have financial aid package…turned them down. So…if you add up all the offers from all the schools…$435,000…which seems amazing unless you compare to math wizards!

I got $4,000 a year from a National Merit Scholarship and that’s about it (the rest of my help is coming from Financial Aid).

However, I turned down non-FA 4-year merit scholarship offers ranging from 44k to 100k+ at four other colleges (some full rides).

Thank goodness for the FA provided by Penn (and for my parents’ willingness to pay the entire parental contribution, meaning I’ll be debt free upon UG graduation/grad school entry).

This thread might be more helpful if the scholarship money was listed only for the school that the student actually intends to attend - and the cost for that school was also listed (so we could see how much of an impact these scholarships actually have).

In other words, if a student got a “$100,000 scholarship to Emory”- that still leaves about $80,000 that the student is responsible for over the 4 year period - which is a lot of debt to take on (in our case, entirely too much). That $100,000 scholarship is less meaningful than a $50,000 scholarship to a less expensive school.

School Attending: University of Southern California
