How much money do you spend a semester?

I think I’ll have about 1000-1500 to spend a semester on extra food, clothing, and miscellaneous items… is this enough? I am going to college in New York City…

yes ive lived in NYC most of my life and been able to get by on that much - just dont overindulge (there are people that easily spend $200 a week)

yeah thats definitely enough as long as you use your money well. i got to school in boston and spent 800$ last semester, and 600$ this semester.

robotFood,
Whoops! I know that this reply doesn’t really fit in with anything that you’re saying, but are you doing chemE and don’t want to go to UPenn because their chemE is bad? Are you going to Columbia instead? If so, it might be useful for you to know that UPenn and Columbia rank the exact same for chemE!
Nonetheless, NY is SUCH an awesome place to live!
Just don’t overspend–it’s so easy, esp. in NY.

deedee,

I know that Columbia and Penn are similarly ranked in terms of chemE  Berkeley was the odd one out (#2)… I don’t feel like I’d be happy at Berkeley though.

I visited Columbia and felt it was the right place for me! Also, I am interested in the core curriculum which mixes humanities classes with engineering… and the engineers at Columbia live together with the college students. These are the things I based my decision on!

Ah, I see! Well, I’m glad that you’ve made your decision based on things that you know will make the most out of your college experience. The best of luck to you and have fun in NY!

yeppp!

thanks for your support! i’m lookin forward to havin lots of fun!

you’re goin to penn right? i know you’ll have a great time there. best of luck to you too. maybe i’ll see you around someday :P
