I can’t tell if I am a horrible test taker, or I am just plain stupid.
I am a rising senior.
My test score is at a 26 right now (26E 26M 28R 22S) with the red book practice tests (are these even accurate anymore?)
I have already studied extensively; I raised my score from a 21 at the end of junior year to a 24, and now to a 26. I improved my math alone from an 18 to a 26, granted I hadn’t taken trig by the first time. Not sure if that’s what really made the difference.
I have been using prep scholar. SO basically my question is what is a realistic goal I can set? Can I even improve anymore then I have?
I am scheduled to take the September ACT and I will retake it in October or November (depending on deadlines).
Colleges I am interested in:
GMU
VCU
JMU
CNU
GW (Very much a reach LOL)
VTECH
PACEU (NYC is my dream)
My GPA (if you were wondering) is a 3.75UW and a 3.9W…
Senior year schedule:
AP GOV
AP human geo
Precalculus
Physics
Spanish 5
DE English
International Relations/Sociology (semester electives)
ANY ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED- about the ACT, about senior year, about colleges apps.
If your schedule allows, this weekend focus exclusively on science. Take 3 or 4 REAL ACT Science tests. I want yo to time yourself and then review what you got wrong.
Just keep on taking realesd practice tests and your scores will increase. And try going to your library and go through any math and science workbooks. And go through punctuation/grammar rules on sparknotes.
Im sure you could find more recent official tests. Just search around this forum or google it. If you’re worried the red book isnt accurate anymore. There indeed have been many changes to tests post 2014. you can check them out here: http://www.act.org/standard/index.html
Your GPA and a 26 ACT are pretty solid for the schools you are interested in, but certainly raising your score will not hurt.
For comparison my son was accepted this past year at CNU, UMW, Gettysburg, and American with a 3.7 GPA and a 29 ACT, 1970 SAT. He is a freshman at CNU and loves it.
I think that’s good enough for GMU, idk about the other schools. Also my cousin got into GW with a 23, if you have some other areas of your application that are stronger I think you’ll be fine
