How much more work is needed to study double, or tripple major?

So I have been offered a direct admissions to the material science and engineering department, and I’m probably gonna take the offer.

On top of the MSE I thought I might pick up another major, something that can be used in compliment with the material science.

Since the material science is relevant to most all the engineering studies, all of the engineering studies is option now, but I thought aeronautics would be nice.

Material science and Aeronautics share all the general education, and big chunk of engineering fundamentals. but each major need about 60 credits of major study.

So how much is “60 credit?”

If I double major it looks like I will need to get 250 credits instead of 180.

Also, how about applied physics and computer science and engineering? would they compliment well with the material science and engineering?

5 credits for a normal class, most people take 15 -18 a quarter. so that is 45 credits a year times 4 is 180 four years. an extra 70 credits is about another year and half unless you take alot of classes a quarter… so after grad school you are looking at or around 8 years if you do what i believe you are planning on doing and the cost will increase alot.

There may be some overlapping classes you need to take, like upper division math courses, that more than one of your majors may require.

For some majors, there may be even more classes that can count towards both majors (ie. CE and EE both require some intro EE courses). It just depends on which combination of majors you make.
