This last quarter, my grade in chemistry has dropped from a 95 to a 92

While my grade in English has dropped from a 98 to a 95.

My grade in French dropped from 98 to a 95.

And lastly, my grade in trigonometry dropped from a 99 to a 94.

It’s just that this last quarter, I’ve been overwhelmed by all the testing, and my father, who is a smoker, has been coughing and I’ve just been worrying that something serious could happen. There has been so much on my mind. I can’t focus on tests so much anymore.

This also could very well take me out of my first in class position.

Do colleges care whether you are 1st or 2nd in class? What about small grade drops such as this? They add up.

Thanks for reading. Please don’t flame me, as I can see how this would be potentially flammable.

I don’t know about your school but in my school they take the final average of all four grading quarters. So even if your grade dropped in one quarter, it shouldn’t matter too much because the final average is the only thing that is put on your transcript and looked at to determine GPA and rank. At least, this is how it is at my school…i am not sure about yours, but I am sure that a few points decrease isn’t going to hurt you.

oh geez are you serious. You have A’s in those classes. A+ and A- are usually given the same amount of credit at colleges; you are just an over paranoid incoming senior, realx.

Sorry about the troubles you’ve been having lately!

Just let me ask, does your GPA depend on whether you get a 95 or a 99? Because at my friend’s school, a 97-100 is a 4.0, but a 96 is like a 3.8.

Also, I think if you’re 2, you’re just great! Often, #2 gets into a better college than #1… when you’re that close, it doesn’t matter that much.

this really depends on your school, if your school typically sends students to top notch colleges, you should have no problem getting into your college choices. regardless, i don’t think you should worry too much, unless your rank drops drastically.
