<p>I work in the petroleum industry as an engineer. When you say time off it’s a pretty tricky question with different answers.</p>
<p>Personally, I work a regular job from 7 AM to 4:30 PM (9.5 hours each day, but I also get every other friday off)
If I worked on an offshore platform, however, I’d be working 2 weeks (approx. 12 hours a day) and then have 2 weeks of straight vacation each and every month.</p>
<p>Vacation as a new hire is about the same as any other industry: 1 to 2 weeks of vacation per year until you get more seniority in the company. </p>
