For success in a computational chemistry graduate program, is it necessary to know alot of programming before applying, or is a 1 quarter course of “Computational Methods in Engineering” enough? What about 2 quarters of programming (1 quarter of Computational Methods in Engineering, 1 quarter of Computational Methods in Biophysics)? Specifically, how much programming is necessary to study computational protein structure prediction?

Is it also necessary to take upper division undergraduate courses in quantum mechanics before applying, or is the quantum mechanics introduction given in physical chemistry enough? Would testing well on the Chemistry GRE strengthen my application?
