<p>I am planning on studying abroad in Germany in the spring and would like to be able to travel around Germany and to other countries while in Europe, but can’t spend a crazy amount of money. How much do you think is needed to be able to afford weekend trips to major cities throughout Germany as well as possible trips to cities such as Rome, Florence, Venice, Zurich, Amsterdam, Salzburg, and Dublin? I’m looking to save money wherever possible through cheap train/plane tickets, staying in hostels, etc. The goal for me is to see as much as possible, but I need to know within reason how much a typical student spends on travel and how much I would need to realistically travel to a couple of countries.</p>
<p>I’m not really certain on the overall cost, but if you are looking at travelling a lot around Germany, it would be worth investing in the BahnCard 25. For a student price of 41€, you get 25% off all train tickets for a year. Plus, there are regular bonus deals. I got a round trip ticket to Geneva from Germany for < 50€.</p>
<p>It’s also worth looking into overnight buses to different cities. It’s not glamorous, but it’s cheap</p>
