I am a sophomore right now, and my goal is to get at least National Merit commended-and around 2200 for the New SAT.

I have a 3.98 GPA and am taking the most rigorous courses right now. MY PSAT this year was 190-my error ID section was 50% correct. lol.

How much time would I need to spend a week to achieve my goal?

Honestly, how much time do you spend studying for SATs, and what score did you get (don’t tell me you got a 1600 w/o ANY prep)

Thanks, and have a wonderful xmas or whatever you celebrate!

oh, i forgot. Are there any good Grammar books to help me out? Because I have never been officially taught grammar. I’ve had it in sixth grade for a unit, and that’s about it.

Get grammar smart by princeton review. I did a lot of prep for the PSAT and my score only went from 201 to 217, but I already had an 80 math. I didnt do much writing prep… which was a big mistake. I went from 61V->71V, 80M, 60W->66W. Just do the 8 tests from the official study guide to the new sat, and you should be fine after that. I did 4 and I already see an improvement.

do some work with pr or kaplan for the error ID–you don’t even have to buy the book. just go into a bookstore and read the section about writing
i got a 201 my sophomore year and then read kap and pr and did maybe 8-10 practice tests and i got 226 as a junior

I just did a few sample PR tests and learned a bit of grammar…really what you’ll learn in school between now and then should boost you a few points anyway…btw went from a 205 to a 222.
