how much units to take 1st sem?

i’m going to be a computer science major. how many units should i take first sem?? i’m thinking about 16 units(4 classes)

It depends on what the classes are and how comfortable you are with a heavy/light workload. ~15 credits is normal for each semester so you should be perfectly alright with 16.

Does your school have a suggest 4-year plan for taking courses?

i’m thinking about a writing class, intro to CS class. i dont know the other 2 :confused: i might take physics and maybe psychology or a math course

I’m taking 14 this semester. It makes me feel lazy.

I’m thinking about doing compsci and I’m doing 16 - but 2 of those are pass/fail seminars that are basically participation.

GenChem + Lab = 5 (this is supposed to be notoriously hard)
Calc II = 3
CompSci = 3
bio seminar = 1
compsci seminar = 1
and some 3 credit humanities course (looking for an easy one - thinking either linguistics or human evolution)

I’m probs going to sign up for 19 credits (two humanities classes) and drop one (see which teacher is better)

Since chem is just ridiculous - 9.5 hours a week(!) - and calc is also supposed to hard, I dont want to be overwhelmed…

check with your department if there is a suggested path for your requirements. For a comp sci major you’ll for sure need to take math, and probably physics or chem (if its engineering)

take an extra class, that way if you have a bad prof or if its too much, you can drop it
