Prospective buyers walk through a house for sale, see Confederate flags and a framed application to the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan on the wall, post on social media. Seller is a police officer and is put on administrative leave.
if the house was “perfect” why would you tell the realtor that you wouldn’t be writing an offer? To borrow my mom’s favorite expression when I was kid… “you’re cutting off your nose to spite you face”.
The buyers may not want to give any of their money to the seller.
The buyers (who are black) may fear that someone who apparently likes one of the US' most infamous terrorist groups would then know where they live and target them.
Why would you not make an offer on a house owned by KKK members? Well, lots of reasons. #1 for me would be principles - I wouldn’t want to give money for any reason to people whose actions and outlook repulse me. I wouldn’t patronize a store that was known to discriminate, why would I buy a house from someone who does?
