I’m grateful that suburban Chicago even has its own bus system, but it’s nothing compared to the city’s.

Alas, my driver’s permit has expired, and I haven’t practised with a car since…hmmm, two years ago? I also can’t ride a bicycle. So I don’t have much of a choice.

I never used the city’s buses, because they’re not very reliable and I never knew the schedule for them. I just relied on friends with cars to take me round to anywhere I couldn’t walk. I use my college’s buses all the time though, especially when it’s really hot (to keep from walking to class and dying of heat exhaustion on the way).

^ I was joking. I’ve lived in New York City most of my life.

Here in Lexington - public transportation means the carriage tours tourists take around town. The nearest mass transit system is over an hour’s drive away.

At school we have two options: take the bus (free for undergrads) or buy a parking permit & try to find a parking spot.

The town bus system is designed & operated by the university (students are bus drivers). The different routes hit all the major apartment complexes and campus and are timed so that you’ll get to class on time & be able to catch the bus after class gets out. So, I used the buses every school day for the past 3 years.

i went to san antonio for a weekend about 6 years ago and used the bus a couple of times while i was down there. that is the only time i have ever used public transportation.
