How often does UCSB withdraw admissions?

For those who are admitted but get some bad grades senior year…

I’m not asking for how likely I am to be withdrawn, I’d just like to know cases where someone was or wasn’t withdrawn despite a drop in grades.

My friend got a ‘D’ in AP Calc BC and dropped the class for AP Stats second semester. He notified UCSB and they are still going to accept him.

As long as you inform them it should be fine. They just don’t want to see a D/F pop up unannounced…

my grades are some A$$ this quarter… i hope 1 D wont kick me out. If IB History doesnt go well 4th quarter

what’s no bueno is if you get a D in say, english 12 or precalc senior year…also people have been rescinded for going from an A to a D…and yeah, F’s will kill you no matter what

so basically no D’s in easier core classes and no precipitous drops in grades and no F’s

If i get a D in Ap Micro econ will i be screwed? i have a C- so far…
i got a B- in ap macro first semester…

just get everything at C and you’ll be fine. I mean…how hard is it :T Otherwise, notify them as quickly as possible. I don’t think they’ll withdraw unless you didn’t have the basic minimum

I nearly got kicked out of UCSB even before I got here.

Twice.

One for getting a D second semester in AP English IV (I really don’t know how I squeezed myself out of getting kicked out on that one, because it is A-G all four years), and for missing one (or two?) semesters of foreign language (my CC I took the 2nd year of foreign language on screwed me over because they screwed up on their assist.org labeling. I had to take Spanish II during the summer before UCSB -___-)

Moral of the story: keep weighted gpa to a 3.0 or higher, get no D’s (D’s in classes that is non A-G requirements or classes where you already completed A-G requirements are OKAY, I guess -__- ), and if you’re doing a science-related major, you better know some basic calculus before you get here. . .

FUUUUUUUUUU I just barely got a 3.0 weighted first semester, and that included all classes.

LOL MADNESS.

you better do. . .slightly better your second semester. lol

I have mostly As and a B in economics (with AP government review assignments), and a D in AP English but it mostly likely will get better.

I already sent UCSB admissions a letter about my first semester grades and put current grades in it.

The private colleges I got accepted to are pretty good and admitted me despite already seeing my senior year grades before admission (I sent in a transcript including them). They’re a bit easier to get in though…

because private colleges don’t care much since you pay them more money?

I had the same question as well. Last semester, I received a ‘D’ grade in my AP Calculus class, but I contacted the Admissions Department and one of the representatives there said I should be fine. It makes me a bit anxious though since they have to review it and whatnot. I explained to them my reason for getting the low grade ( a medical situation ) and the rest of my grades were three A’s and two B’s. This semester, I have improved that ‘D’ to a ‘B’ and I’m just REALLY hoping they don’t withdraw my admission :frowning:
Any comments to make me feel better? Haha.

Most of the people I talked to in person about this said that colleges usually don’t withdraw admission in general, and I should be fine. Besides, I took an SAT subject test and got a 670 during fall semester also.

colleges hate giving rescissions because it screws up their yield predictions…but with the waitlist now, UCs might be more conducive to rescinding more students than they’ve had in the past

some on guys, just friggin google it and you have the exact answer: <a href=“UC Santa Barbara Admissions Portal - UC Santa Barbara Applicant Portal Login”>UC Santa Barbara Admissions Portal - UC Santa Barbara Applicant Portal Login;

i mean i think everyone has seen that…
its not specific

Anberlin, you should be fine. The UC schools have this bizarre process of “validation” which means if you pass a later class in a math or language sequence you are presumed to have passed the earlier class (even if you didn’t). So you get class credit, but it sounds like they still use the actual grade in figuring your GPA. See [University of California - Validation](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/counselors/q-and-a/validation/index.html)

I got an F in an elective class my 1st semester senior year and im about to send an e-mail to the office of admissions… i really hope they don’t withdraw their offer of admission.
