After hearing of and finding stories about people whose acceptances were rescinded, I myself have become a tad nervous.

First semester, I pretty much had all As, with 1 89. Now, I estimate that I will receive the following grades for my 2nd semester: A, A-, A-, B, B-(maybe even C+).

Additionally, I have accrued a large number of absences, and was wondering if McGill takes these into account. I’m worried that my absences alone might be rescindment-worthy. I’m not even sure if McGill even looks at absences, though.

Furthermore, I am the recipient of a reasonably-sized financial aid package (not scholarship), and heard that this may even further one’s chances of rescindment.

No, they aren’t going to rescind your acceptance because you skipped some classes. The only way they’ll rescind is if you got from like an A average to like a C average…

I agree that your attendance is irrelevant for McGill: McGill will not know or care about your attendance. McGill is a university, not a daycare, unlike many of its counterparts.

I’m in the same case. In the first and second trimester I had about 15 out of 20 and now I have about 10 out of 20. Will they rescind my offer ??? Thank you.

“mcgill doesn’t like to take away acceptances” is how the mcgill rep worded it
she said that mcgill understands that there are grad events going on and that they wouldn’t take away your acceptance unless you had a drastic drop (eg. 90% to 70% would be an issue), or if you lied on your self-reporting form. otherwise, it should be all good, so don’t worry! :)

current49: My average will be fine at the end of the year (probably ~3-4% lower), but my English mark will have dropped a decent amount, from 76 to the 60s. Could this hurt me? I go to an English school in Canada and don’t take French. I also did not see a minimum required grade for English on their site.

hey sean1218, im by no means an expert on the subject, but i highly highly doubt that mcgill would rescind their offer for a 4% overall drop. is that 60% mark your term 3 mark only or your overall mark? (mcgill will only see the overall average mark you got in each class when your final transcript is sent)

Well, they see it as 76 right now. After exams, the max it could possibly be will be 70%, but I won’t get perfect on the exam, so I’m guessing about 65% for a final grade.

what faculty are you going into? perhaps you can call and ask anonymously about your situation. still, i don’t think mcgill would rescind your offer. sorry i’m not able to tell you for sure!
